Instead of using regular rolled oats, I decided to make some special oatmeal this morning with some Bob’s Red Mill Muesil Mix:
These are thick-cut oats with sunflower seeds, dates, raisins…etc. Delicious! When I studied about in Austria one summer, I ate cold muesli for breakfast every morning. It was a difficult transition from cereal at first, but I was soon transformed into a muesli lover! Its not too sweet and has lots of different textures and flavors. My favorite muesli in Austria had banana chips in it! This was my first experiment with cooking muesli.
Close-up in bowl. I made the muesli with most of a banana, skim milk, and LOTS of cinnamon! Topped with flax and the rest of the banana.
After I mixed it all up and topped it with more milk. Now ready to eat…yum!
The bag also has a recipe for muesli chocolate chip cookies!! I might have to experiment with that soon…
Also, I FINALLY FOUND CHOBANI YOGURT!!! They were selling it at Publix! I have wanted to try this blogger favorite for a while now, and I must say that it is my favorite Greek yogurt I have tried so far. (I actually was not a fan of Fage when I tried it…don’t hate me!) I ate the strawberry flavor for a snack today, to which I added some fresh sliced strawberries. It was wonderful!
Swim practice was a great workout tonight! It felt so good to move around after not really working out at all over the weekend and gorging myself with V-Day treats!
The workout was 2500 meters total, which looked intimidating at first, but it was perfect. Not impossible, but I feel like I pushed myself. Here is what we swam:
- 300 meters warm-up
- 4 x 50 meters kick
- 2 x 100 meters pull (arms only)
- 5 x 200 meters at 80-100% effort with 30 seconds rest
- 500 meter swim
- 3 x 100 cool down (kick, pull, swim)
I refueled with a Maple Nut Clif bar- yum! Tasted like pancakes in bar form! And also some Honeysuckle white tea from a coffee shop
I have a test in Public Health Dietetics tomorrow, so I am going back to studying epidemiological studies and policy making now….Hope you all have a great night!
