Huge disaster this morning making my smoothie. I took the top off to glance down at the consistency of the smoothie (When the blender makes a whirlpool with the smoothie, it is perfectly sippable and creamy.) However, I guess there was still a piece of frozen fruit that had not been blended and got stuck on the blade because all of a sudden half my smoothie went flying straight into my eye! I thought I was blind for about 5 seconds…I’m ok now though .
Here is the culprit (or what was left of it…)
I used a banana, frozen mango, frozen raspberries, a piece of romaine (out of spinach…), a few tablespoons of oats, and skim milk. I don’t measure.
I had seen other bloggers used oats in smoothies, and I wanted to try it. But I’m not sure a really liked this addition. I thought they made my smoothie kind of gritty, and they definitely did not feel good in my eye!
Dinner was much less dangerous.
I used this chicken sausage that I found at Publix:
I cooked it in a pan with some red pepper, asparagus, zucchini, spinach, and fresh basil. I also made some red quinoa.
There was also a Sam Adams Summer Ale to drink, which was wonderful. My dinner was definitely inspired by hanging out at a college apartment pool all day with lots of people grilling out and drinking. I wanted to recreate the carefree summer atmosphere in my apartment except instead of hot dogs, I picked up some roasted garlic chicken sausage, and instead of Natty Light (ewww) I went for the Sam Adams. I mean I did graduate, so I guess I should be making classier choices (ok, I never ever drank Natty Light…).
Oh, and I have officially decided that I don’t feel like growing up yet, so I’m staying in Athens next semester! Rent is cheap, I have 2 jobs (at restaurants), I still have friends who haven’t graduated yet, and I really love this town. Maybe I will apply for grad school or something later, but for now I am taking a break!!!
For those of you who have graduated, what did you do immediately afterward? How did you deal with the transition? When my parents were my age they were engaged, and had me a year later!! I’m not ready for that. I’m a college graduate, but I still feel like a kid!
