I set my alarm early enough to go for a run before work today, but since I worked a double shift yesterday, waking up and running was so not happening. I should have known better.
This morning coffee > running.
Me and all my bed-head glory with a BIG mug of coffee with pumpkin spice creamer. Coffee + pumpkin and cinnamon = true love. I’m on cup number 2! Whooooooooo cooooffffeeeeee!!!!!!
This creamer is probably one of the worst things you can put in your body (INGREDIENTS: WATER, SUGAR, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN AND/OR COTTONSEED OIL, LOTS OF CHEMICAL INGREDIENTS THAT SHOULDN’T BE IN YOUR FOOD…). But 1/2 tablespoon plus a big splash of skim milk per giant mug is plenty to put some holiday flavor in your caffeine. Everything in moderation.
Ok, I’m off for ANOTHER double shift. If you go out to eat today, please tip your servers well! (PS: 15% is BS especially if your meal is under $10…seriously!)
Have you ever worked in a restaurant before? Hated it? Loved it? And do you think you are a good tipper?

Yikes!! Good luck with your shift – you’ll get through it!
Good luck today!! Retail and restaurants are two places that I refuse to work in – props to you
I love coffeemate creamers! I agree-everything in moderation
I’ve never worked at a restaurant, but i’d like to!!! Double shift sounds CRAZY right now…i hope you get tipped well my dear!!
And that is such a cute picture of you and your creamer!!!! hahahah
I worked at Joe’s Crab Shack for about a year. I had mixed feelings about it. I liked working in a restaurant in general, but hated it when the customers were mean or left crappy tips.
I always tip at least 20%. I think that anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant does.
I love Starbucks’ pumpkin spice lattes, but its a little distributing to look at the empty cup when you finish. Its normally coated with an orange-y oil, but its still worth it!
Yes! Love the moderation concept.
Hope work went well.
I was a waitress, so I’m extra conscious of tipping now. I had regular customers who wouldn’t tip anyone, and it was SOOO annoying.
Good luck at work and you’re so, so right about the 15% thing!!! I’ve seen people take out their phones to CALCULATE tip on a $12 meal. Thanks a bunch! ahaha
I can’t imagine a world without coffee!
I worked in a restaurant (well, several) for 8 years! I LOVE
okay so my last comment posted before I finished.
I LOVE waitressing – it is one of the best jobs I ever had! And yes – my hubs and i both worked in food service so we feel like we are really good tippers because we can understand the servers job
I totally agree that 1/2 tbsp is not that bad to flavor a big mug!!!:)
Hey Tyler! I actually saw your picture on Meghann’s blog for best/worst running photos. Not sure if you remember me but I met you at UGA when we had nutrition together, you actually got me to start rowing for the first time! (That was 3 years ago – I was on an exchange program from Binghamton, NY). Very funny that I saw that you have a blog but I am also completely entertained by food blogs and thought it was so cool that you have one- it looks great! I feel like I have to creep on them for a while longer but I would LOVE to start one eventually. Hope all is well!
I just found your blog, and I’m so glad I’m not the only one taking some time off after graduation! I also waitress, but my shifts have been cut wayyyy down since it’s winter now, so I’m also working retail. I totally agree about the 15% rule. People definitely don’t realize that servers often don’t get paychecks, and if they do, they’re insubstantial. Definitely not enough to pay the bills! Good luck today with your tips.
OHhh my goodness I feel like this post was meant for me haha… I am a server at a restaurant too and I cannot STAND when people tip less than 20%. Maybe it’s because I’ve worked in restaurants as a server for a while now but I make sure I’m tipping at least 25-30% (unless you’re reallyyyy really horrible) and even then I think ever server has bad days and still deserves 20%! It’s waitress karma… if you leave good tips, you’ll get good tips
haha Hope you made lots at work!
