I won!

I won a bottle of wine! For selling the most specials at work :) . I may not have a “real” job yet or a solid future plan at the moment, but I have a free bottle of Spanish Garnacha!!

In all honestly, I probably won more out of luck than my super waitressing skills. Also, the Bulgarian girl with the sultry accent who always wins these contests by a landslide was not working last night. But whatever….I have free wine, and I am happy.

After a run in the freezing cold today (I guess it’s winter now!), I picked up some lunch from Farm Cart downtown. Farm Cart is a new to-go lunch spot opened up by one of my favorite restaurants- Farm 255. They get all their ingredients from local farms, and everything is incredibly delicious!

I’ve been a few times already, and I always get their cauliflower soup:

It’s served with croutons, a drizzle of olive oil, and freshly grated nutmeg. Fantastic!! I love love love this soup!

Today I also got the tortilla espanol, which is a cold frittata with potatoes topped with red pepper jelly and served with a side salad.

Also very delicious. If you have never tried red pepper jelly before, you should!

What did you have for lunch today?

Oh, also, the restaurant I work at is having a Christmas party on Sunday and we are all bringing food. Everyone seems to be bringing some kind of dip or dessert, and I would like to bring something healthier but also tasty. I was thinking of maybe some kind of salad?? I think there will be plenty of carb and cheesy goodness, so I want to bring something with lots of veggies that people will like. Does anyone have any ideas?

  1. Hi ,
I just found your blog and its great. I might try to read more :) I have started up one, but its not just about food, a bit about life I guess :)

  2. YAY WINE!! A free bottle of wine is always a good thing! That meal looks divine.

Bring veggies and hummus!! Or a salad with a bunch of fun things in it (nuts and dried fruit).

  3. cauliflower soup?!?! yum!!!

for lunch i had salad, yogurt, and cheesy pita!

  4. I have this problem all the time because I want to bring something semi-nutritious to parties, but I don’t want to be the girl that always brings something healthy haha… What about greek salad? Like romaine, feta, sun-dried tom., artichokes, black olives and some kind of vinaigrette?

i always bring a basic veggie plate, boring, but it’s always completely gone while the cookies and brownies normally have leftovers! i made baked butter dijon cauliflower once and it was amazing, melt butter and mix it with lemon juice and course ground spicy mustard. then break the cauliflower up into florets and coat them however much you want, place on a cooking sheet and bake. the brown crispy ones are best!
