About Me

Who am I?
I am a reformed picky eater who is now infatuated with gourmet and healthy foods.  I love trying new foods and attempting interesting recipes. I try to eat as well as possible with minimal budget and cooking skills.
I recently received my bachelor’s degree in dietetics, but I am unsure if I am going to pursue becoming a registered dietitian. I’m currently trying to find my ideal career path.

Why “Raspberry Runner” ?

I like raspberries, running, and alliterations.

My food philosophy:
I definitely have an interesting in healthy eating and cooking, but I also have huge weaknesses for dark chocolate, ice cream, and gourmet cheeses. I consider my indulgences as part of my healthy diet. Through this blog, I want to celebrate all good food (from fruits and veggies to homemade chocolate cake) and fitness.
Nutrition is a field with lots of conflicting research and advice. From everything I have learned, my conclusion is that the “secret” to good nutrition doesn’t lie in some magical ratio of fats, carbs, and protein. Just eat more fresh foods, eat less processed foods, and exercise regularly.
To me, “good food” means real food that is delicious. It  doesn’t come from a drive through window, and it doesn’t have a bunch of chemical sounding ingredients. I think exercising is just as important as good food for health and happiness, so it made sense to me to include fitness as something to be celebrated.

Why I am writing this blog:
I think that food blogs are ridiculously entertaining. I love getting meal ideas and recipes from other blogs and seeing what other people like to eat. I wanted in on the fun so I could share my enthusiasm about the good food that I eat!

  16. It’s funny how similar we are! Although I was never really a picky eater, I love trying new foods, cuisines and different recipes. I love the idea of taking fresh, wholesome ingredients and transforming them into something flavorful and amazing!
I would definitely recommend going for your RD credential because it gives you so much more credibility in the field, even if you don’t like the clinical setting (It’s not for me either!) Even though you have to do a clinical rotation during your internship, it is a great learning experience and there are 6 mo internships out there so it really flies by. There are so many different avenues that RDs can take and I am currently getting my MS in ex phys and I’d like to go to culinary school and start my own business someday. Thanks for your great blog!
