god, I am freaking out! I have a triathlon coming up in exactly two weeks! I have not trained for two months and I am so unfit!! I just found your post and am feeling encouraged! I'm curious.. did you stick to your two week training plan? do you have any other tips? Anything you can let me know would help! I hate running ... my strength would be cycling .. but I guess that wont be the most challenging part!

Believe me, you did the right thing!

If it doesn't feel right, it isn't right. If you can't quite put it into words, that doesn't matter, as long as you understand your motivations, or in this case, lack of motivation.
I got a degree in Dietetics almost 30 years ago, and had the same feelings then you do now. The whole "profession" is a gloriified farce. What you study is complete overkill for what you do. I, too, felt like a complete fraud with what amounted to "dietary counseling". Anyone who read Good Housekeeping would get as much as I had to offer. Also, I'm not surprised you didn't get an internship, there are so few out there. IMO, its a crime to admit people to the Dietetics program without placement into internships. all that time and money wasted. When I was in Dietetics, there was about a 10% (or less) admission rate to those coveted internships. Well, I did get into a coordinated program, what a joke. it was such a farce it would be funny if it wasn't such a waste of time and money. Even with the coveted internship, job opportunities were very scarce. I finally went bacK and got an MBA and became a CPA. What a total turnaround!

The worse thing about dietetics, is the "attitude" of those RD's. They have such an inflated opinion of themselves, I've never seen a profession trying so hard to make something out of nothing. You made the right decision, and while you're still young enough to turn around. I'm glad you didn't pursue an internship---they are so hateful. You can't believe how they ride you for every little thing, it seems their main goal is to make you feel deficient, guess then they have something to feel superior to. CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING OUT OF THE KITCHEN!

Marantha brand is so much better than sun butter and not the extra sugar. I highly recommend it and it's at Whole Foods and some King Soopers these days. Recipe sounds great so I will try ASAP. I also make a black bean lime hummus that is great and use no oil.
